My kids are 14 and 16 now and we still do an annual camping trip with two families we met in the 2's class. Northpoint is where families make friends, not just the kids"
How often will I work in the class?
Depending on class size, parents generally work in the classroom approximately three times a month.
What is involved in a committee assignment?
Your committee assignment can vary from making playdough, procuring auction items, or maintaining this website. We try to best match your skill set with the required positions the school needs so everything can run smoothly.
What is required for fundraising?
Each family will be asked to procure three donations that are valued at $50 or more each. The auction committee will be present at orientation and the welcome back night to provide procurement dates and ideas if you don’t know where to start. Involvement with fundraising is an integral part of keeping the school running and keeping tuition low. Learn more here http://www.northpointcoop.org/annual-fundraising-auction.html

There is such joy in being able to be in the classroom with your child and seeing they learn and grow right in front of you."
What happens at a school cleaning?
There will be a cleaning lead there with a checklist of all the required tasks. This will be a deep clean of all toys and surfaces to keep our students as healthy as possible. These cleaning can take between 1 to 2 hours depending on how many families attend each one.
Parent education credits? What are those?
As the family of a co-op you will be enrolled in Bates College's Parent Education Program—you are enrolling yourself in school as well! Parents are required to get eight Parent Ed credits over the course of the year. This isn’t difficult to achieve – there is at least one opportunity every month. Qualifying events include: Attending school events Classroom training Attending the auction Reading one page articles and answering a question Meeting with other parents during class hours to discuss child development and more! We want you to be involved in the community and Parent Ed opportunities help you do just that. Learn more here (http://www.northpointcoop.org/education-and-volunteer-credit-opps.html)
Northpoint is building a community so please know that you have the support of the entire board and our teachers to fulfill these requirements. It can feel overwhelming while reading it all at once but there are multiple people invested in the success of your family at our school if you believe it is the correct fit.
The community you can build during your time here is unmatched."
